Introduces students to language acquisition theory and its implications for the classroom. Topics covered include development of student competency in each of the four skills (reading, listening, speaking, writing), the teaching of culture, and the use of authentic materials. This course is organized around the National Standards and includes familiarization with the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines. Recommended for any language major, especially those considering teaching as a profession, as well as those students considering graduate study. Taught in English. Fall semester only.
